Since 1 August 2024, Reto Hofstetter has been a full professor at the School of Management (SoM-HSG) of the University of St. Gallen (HSG). He will also assume the position of Academic Director of the Executive MBA HSG. He is thus returning to the HSG after twelve years.
Prof Dr Reto Hofstetter completed an apprenticeship as a computer scientist from 1994 to 1998 and obtained a bachelor’s degree (Dipl. Ing.) in Computer Science from the Berne University of Applied Sciences in 2003. From 2003 to 2008, he completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration at the University of Berne. In 2008, he completed his PhD in Marketing at the University of Berne, with research stays at the Wharton School and Stanford University.
Assistant professor at the HSG in 2010
From 2010 to 2012, he held an assistant professorship at the University of St.Gallen, before becoming an Associate Professor of Marketing at the Università della Svizzera italiana from 2013 to 2017. Since 2017, he has held a full professorship in marketing at the University of Lucerne, and since 2020, he has been Director of the Institute of Marketing and Analytics.
Prof Dr Reto Hofstetter conducts research in the field of marketing management using a quantitative and experimental approach. He publishes his results in top journals such as the Journal of Marketing Research and the Journal of Consumer Research.
Prof Dr Reto Hofstetter teaches Marketing Management, Digital Marketing, and Quantitative Methods. He teaches at executive, doctoral, master, and bachelor level. In 2019 he was awarded the Credit Suisse Best Teacher Award.
