Cooperation between Swiss Re Institute & University of St.Gallen
Swiss Re Institute offers premium learning and development programs tailored for primary insurers, insurance brokers, insurtech firms, governments, and large businesses outside the insurance industry. For over 60 years they are equipping mid-, upper-level, and senior managers with skills and knowledge necessary for navigating the future landscape of risk and insurance. By fostering this knowledge sharing and supporting decision making with industry focused publications, executive education programmes and conferences, Swiss Re Institute is the ideal partner in this online seminar cooperation with the Institute of Insurance Economics.
Program structure
We are pleased to offer two onboarding sessions per track for our participants, as well as two tracks for EMEA/Asia and EMEA/Americas, respectively. Select the track and onboarding session that best fit your schedule. Please note that it is not possible to mix sessions from different tracks.
The program consists of seven two-hour modules, which take place over the course of four weeks. You can expect the following modules covering these topics:
Academic & Programme Lead
Alexander Braun is Associate Professor of Insurance and Capital Markets at the University of St.Gallen (HSG) and Director at the Institute of Insurance Economics (I.VW-HSG). Before joining HSG, he worked in the capital markets division of Lehman Brothers in London. Dr. Braun studied at leading universities in Germany, Australia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He holds the degree “Diplom-Kaufmann” from the University of Mannheim (Germany) and a Ph.D. in Finance from HSG. In 2016, he additionally obtained the venia legendi in Business Administration. The research and teaching activities of Dr. Braun have been awarded, amongst others, by the American Risk and Insurance Association, the Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association, and the Casualty Actuarial Society. Overall, he looks back on more than 10 years of combined scholarly and practical experience in risk management, insurance, and the financial markets.
Johan Hassel is part of the Swiss Re Executive Education Team. In his role as Senior Executive Programmes Manager he is responsible for the portfolio of Client Training Programmes and Executive Programmes. This responsibility includes managing existing programmes and developing new programmes.
Prior to joining Swiss Re, he spent 17 years at the largest Swedish insurer, Länsförsäkringar, holding various senior positions including Head of Business Development and Sustainability at one of the local companies within the federation. He has also served as representative for the Länsförsäkringar Federation in Eurapco, a European alliance of mutuals, focused on innovation, cross-border learning and knowledge exchange.
