Programme overview
This course provides a practice-oriented introduction to artificial intelligence (AI), deep learning and generative AI, with a particular focus on their applications in asset management. Starting from the conceptual and technical foundations, participants will explore how leading asset managers already use AI in their investment processes today. They will also look at how financial services firms can implement AI successfully in their organisation, how AI and big data are changing the way investment-relevant data is collected, processed and analysed, and how AI itself has become an investment theme, for example in venture capital.
The course combines academic foundations with a strong emphasis on real-world use cases, presented and discussed by experts from the University of St.Gallen and industry experts from UBS Asset Management, ZKB Asset Management, Finreon, and EY. It is designed for professionals who want to understand where AI creates real value in investing, where its limits lie, and how to critically assess AI-driven strategies, tools and providers. No prior experience with AI is required. Participants will gain the knowledge needed to evaluate the potential of AI for their own organisation and to engage confidently with data science teams, vendors and clients.
