From a commercial academy to an institution for lifelong learning
As one of Europe’s leading business schools, the University of St.Gallen (HSG) educates business leaders. Founded in 1898 as a demand-oriented commercial academy, the HSG has, for over a century, been a prominent port of call for ambitious people whose goal it is to achieve something: for themselves and for society – people who want to shape the future. The high practical relevance of all of the programmes and courses we offer is a result of this aspiration.
The employees of our 30 institutes offer students qualified degrees in the subjects of business administration, economics, law, social sciences, and international relations. The outstanding reputation of the University of St.Gallen is founded on the highest academic standards, as well as our long tradition as a top-tier educational institution for executives. People from around the world value our high-quality majors – together, our students, researchers, alumni and sponsors form one of the largest networks in the business world.
Permanent technological transformation and the associated challenges for people and society have made lifelong learning essential. This is why we have been offering executive education courses in important fields such as leadership and law for over 70 years. These include our postgraduate Executive Master’s in Business Administration (EMBA), which, when introduced in 1987, was the first programme of its kind in German-speaking Europe.
With the University of St.Gallen, you will be choosing an EQUIS-, AACSB-, and AMBA-accredited business school with international prestige. The HSG regularly occupies top positions in international business school rankings and currently occupies fourth place in the Financial Times ranking for European business schools. In the area of thought leadership, we are a well-established institution which focuses on the central challenges of the business world and practice-oriented concepts. Our academic interests revolve around people and society.
The high quality of our degree and executive education programmes is also related to the unique strength of our regional location. At the University of St.Gallen, you will study in the economic and cultural hub of eastern Switzerland. Numerous companies from the commercial and financial sectors are headquartered in eastern Switzerland and nearby Zurich, and when they recruit top talents, they place their trust in the HSG and its graduates. The HSG will thus provide you with access to an abundance of projects and allow you to become a member of an ambitious network – the perfect educational environment for your professional development.
The Executive School of Management, Technology and Law (ES-HSG) is the executive education organisation of the University of St.Gallen.
